Beautiful start off my 900 km drive from Ljungdalen to Kalmar - Sweden. VW Touareg V10 TDI

Cold start at about -5ºC after changing the thermostat. But engine still wouldn't get warm. I just ordered a thermostat without checking because that's what I always do when an engine can't reach operating temp. Got confused when the new one arrived, it had a cable connection. Engine coolant sensor sits next to the thermostat with its own cable. Turns out that the V10 thermostat is electronical...

Been sitting over one week, engine temp about -20ºC. Outside temp rised to "warm" -8ºC this morning. Just pushed the start button, but after a couple of attempts i forced it to preglow. The V10 is factory equipped with two independent batteries. If the the first dies I have to insert the key and can the use the other battery to continue cranking.

Just to prove my cable fix. First video 18th november, this the 24th of december. Only 13 km( 8.1 miles) driven in five weeks, no battery charger connected. The car has not been started for at least ten days. No preheater used. No automatic glow plug preheating above ambient temp of 5 degrees celcius. Before the cable fix the battery had to be fully charged and the starting procedure could take...

Ambient temp in garage is 8C, engine preheated to 20C. 611392 km or 379901 miles on the odometer. Both the Saab authorized garage and private grotto style garage has failed to fix this problem. All focus in troubleshooting is to the diagnostic tool that shows no errors, and replacing starter, battery, glow plugs and so on.
